Implant-Supported Crowns in Gurgaon
An implant-supported crown is the visible replacement tooth above an implant and its connector. The crown, connector and implant body are different parts, so fitting the crown involves checking how the replacement sits, meets neighbouring teeth and comes together in the bite. Dr Divya Marwaha can discuss implant and crown assessment at Marwaha Dental Clinic in DLF Phase 2, Gurugram. The clinic has served patients in Gurgaon since 2004.
If an implant restoration hurts or feels loose, arrange prompt dental assessment. That feeling alone cannot tell you which part needs attention. FDA advice on implant pain and looseness.
Choosing the best dentist for implant crowns in Gurgaon
The fitting discussion should make the replacement understandable: which part is the crown, how it will be attached, what the fit and bite checks assess, and what care continues afterwards. These are useful considerations when choosing a dentist for an implant crown.
Dr Divya Marwaha is MDC's founder and an experienced dental surgeon with more than 25 years of clinical dental practice. She is a BDS Gold Medalist, has advanced training at AIIMS, New Delhi, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Oral Implantology and Surgery from Germany. Marwaha Dental Clinic is trusted by many happy patients and families who continue to choose Dr Divya for their dental care, including those returning for 10–15 years.
The crown, connector and implant body
The implant body is the support placed surgically in jawbone. An abutment is the connector linking that body to the replacement crown. Some systems also use an abutment fixation screw. The crown forms the visible replacement tooth above the connector; it is separate from the implant body in bone. FDA component explanation and ADA crown information.
One implant and its crown can replace one missing tooth. If you are deciding how to replace a gap, the single-tooth dental implant guide covers that broader choice and placement planning. The American Academy of Periodontology explains a single implant and crown. The dental crowns overview explains crown assessment for natural teeth.
What happens when an implant crown is fitted?
Restorative appointments record impressions of the mouth and check the fit of the replacement components. An impression records the mouth's shape for making the restoration. Planning may also include X-rays, selected for the clinical question rather than automatically using the same imaging for every patient. NHS implant planning and restorative appointments.
At fitting, checks include:
- Seating and fit: how the replacement sits on its supporting components.
- Contacts: how it meets neighbouring teeth.
- Occlusion, or the bite: how the upper and lower teeth meet with the crown in place.
ITI's fitting guidance describes these checks. Making and fitting the replacement is a restorative part of treatment; implant placement is a separate stage. The appointments follow the individual plan.
When can the crown be fitted after implant placement?
The implant is placed in bone before the connector and crown restore the tooth. Bone joining with the implant is called osseointegration. Crown timing varies with the treatment plan and healing, so the assessment needs to relate the proposed fitting to the implant's stage of treatment. AAP implant stages and ADA explanation of osseointegration.
For the wider placement and healing discussion, read the single-tooth implant guide. An individual assessment clarifies the sequence for your restoration rather than assuming a fixed interval or a final crown on the day of placement.
How is an implant crown attached?
A screw-retained restoration is fastened to the implant or abutment with a screw. A cement-retained restoration is cemented onto the abutment. These terms describe the attachment of the replacement. ITI retention definitions.
ITI's 2013 consensus did not recommend either design for everyone. Clinical circumstances and the dentist's access to remove the replacement when needed matter. That historical guidance does not cover every later system or study. Both designs can have tissue-related and mechanical complications; the fastening choice alone does not prevent failure. ITI's retention comparison and ITI professional removal-access guidance.
For a cemented design, retained excess cement can contribute to inflammation around the implant. Deep margins—the edges of the replacement—make excess cement harder to remove. ITI residual-cement guidance. Read the screw-retained implant teeth guide or cement-retained implant teeth guide for the fuller attachment discussion.
Care continues after the crown is fitted
Implants cannot develop tooth decay, but the tissues surrounding them can develop disease. Daily cleaning and continuing professional care remain necessary after implant tooth replacement. ACP implant care information. Follow-up appointments assess healing and the ongoing restoration, and maintenance continues after treatment ends. NHS follow-up information and FDA continuing-care advice.
General health influences implant suitability and healing. Medical conditions and medicines should be considered before treatment. Smoking can impair healing and long-term implant outcomes, and stopping smoking forms part of reducing risk. Share your health and medication history during assessment. FDA health and smoking advice, NHS medical-history information and NHS stopping-smoking advice.
Infection or failure of an implant to join with bone can lead to implant loss. Pain or a loose feeling needs prompt assessment, but it does not establish that either problem has occurred or identify the crown, connector, screw or implant body as the cause. FDA implant risks and patient advice and NHS implant risks. The general dental implant service explains the wider planning and continuing-care context.
